Townhouse
A townhouse is a multi-story home that shares one or both side walls with neighboring homes in a row. Each unit usually has its own front door and often its own small yard or patio.
The shared walls are called party walls. Townhouses are often owned fee simple, meaning the owner holds the unit and the land under it, with an owners' association maintaining common areas.
Townhouses are common where land is expensive, since they fit more homes on a site than detached houses.
