On-Screen Takeoff Pricing: What OST Costs and How It Is Sold

On-Screen Takeoff pricing is not published. ConstructConnect sells On-Screen Takeoff (OST) by quote, saying pricing varies based on licensing options and business needs, and it offers a free 14-day trial. OST runs on Windows only and now includes Takeoff Boost, ConstructConnect's automated takeoff tool.

How On-Screen Takeoff is priced

There is no price list for OST. You request a quote from ConstructConnect, and the number depends on how many licenses you need and how they are set up. Competitors and review sites publish their own estimates, but none of them come from ConstructConnect, so treat any figure you find as a rough guess and get a written quote before you budget.

ConstructConnect's public pricing page does list prices for a different product, ConstructConnect Takeoff, its browser-based takeoff tool. Those are not OST prices, but they show what the company charges for takeoff software:

ConstructConnect Takeoff planPriceLimits
Starter$1,200 per year ($100 per month)1 seat, up to 25 plans per project
Professional$2,200 per year for the first seatExtra seats $1,700 each

Both require an annual contract.

What is included in On-Screen Takeoff

OST is a desktop takeoff program for measuring areas, lengths, and counts on digital plans. ConstructConnect's FAQ says On-Screen Takeoff includes Takeoff Boost, the AI tool that runs a first pass of the takeoff for an estimator to review.

Subscriptions and licensing

ConstructConnect is moving OST customers from perpetual licenses to subscriptions. Beginning in June 2026, subscription customers move to named-login authentication, a change expected with On-Screen Takeoff version 4.0.0.805. If you own an older perpetual license, ask ConstructConnect how the change affects you before upgrading.

Does On-Screen Takeoff work on Mac?

Not natively. ConstructConnect lists Windows 11 Pro or Enterprise as the requirement. On a Mac, Boot Camp is supported, but Boot Camp is not available on Apple silicon Macs. A virtual machine such as Parallels may work, though ConstructConnect says it cannot provide technical support for that setup.

On-Screen Takeoff vs PlanSwift

ConstructConnect owns both. PlanSwift publishes its prices, $2,000 a year for Essential and $3,000 for Core, while OST stays quote-only. Both are Windows desktop programs with automated takeoff tools. See PlanSwift pricing for the plan details.

When a cheaper tool is enough

If you need measurements from PDF plans rather than a full estimating workflow, MeasureFloorPlan runs in the browser on Mac or PC, measures lengths, runs, room areas, and wall areas, and exports them to CSV. It costs $9 per plan, $15 for a 24-hour Day Pass, or $29 per month for unlimited plans, with no annual contract. It has no counts, assemblies, or bid reports, so estimators who run complete bids inside their takeoff tool should look at OST or PlanSwift. See measuring on PDF plans or the PlanSwift alternatives.
