Door
A door is a movable panel that opens and closes an entrance to a building, room or closet. Most doors swing on hinges, but sliding, pocket, bifold and overhead doors are also common.
In American homes, standard doors are 80 inches (6 feet 8 inches) tall. Interior doors are commonly 28 to 36 inches wide, and exterior entry doors are usually 36 inches wide. A door is sold with or without its frame; a prehung door comes already mounted in its frame.
On a floor plan, a hinged door is drawn as a straight line with a quarter-circle arc showing its swing, which helps show clearance in small rooms. Doors do not add or remove floor area. See door symbols.
