A bedroom is a room used mainly for sleeping. In a house it is a private room, typically with a bed, storage for clothing and a door that closes it off from the rest of the home.
A home's bedroom count is one of the first things buyers, renters and lenders look at. Building codes and local rules set conditions for a room to be called a bedroom, commonly a minimum floor area, an egress window or door for escape in a fire, and a source of heat.
The primary bedroom is usually the largest and often has its own bathroom and a walk-in closet.
