Acre
An acre is a unit of land area equal to 43,560 square feet, or about 4,047 square meters. It is used in the United States and the United Kingdom to describe lot sizes, farms and larger parcels.
An acre has no fixed shape. A square acre is about 208.7 feet on each side, but any parcel totaling 43,560 square feet is one acre. There are 640 acres in a square mile, and one hectare is about 2.471 acres.
Residential lots are often listed in fractions of an acre. A quarter-acre lot is 10,890 square feet.
