What is LxWxH?

L × W × H means length × width × height. It is the standard shorthand for the three dimensions of an object or space. A storage cabinet listed as 72" L × 24" W × 36" H is 72 inches long, 24 inches wide, and 36 inches high.

Length and width describe the horizontal footprint. Height is the vertical distance from bottom to top. Which side counts as "length" and which as "width" can vary by product or industry, so confirm the manufacturer's convention. For a room, 12' L × 10' W × 8' H usually means a room 12 feet long and 10 feet wide with an 8-foot ceiling.

L × W gives area. A 12-foot by 10-foot floor has 120 square feet.

L × W × H gives volume. The same room with an 8-foot ceiling holds 960 cubic feet: 12 × 10 × 8. Keep one unit through the whole calculation, all feet or all inches, to avoid conversion errors.
