What is D x W x H?

D × W × H means depth × width × height, the three physical dimensions of an object. A cabinet listed as 24" D × 36" W × 34.5" H extends 24 inches from front to back, measures 36 inches side to side, and stands 34.5 inches tall.

Depth matters most for cabinets, appliances, shelving, furniture, and closets because it says how far the item projects into the room. Width is the side-to-side measurement across the front. Height runs from the floor or base to the top.

The order is not universal. Some manufacturers write W × D × H and others use L × W × H, so confirm the product specification before planning an opening, countertop, cabinet run, or delivery path.

A refrigerator listed as 36" W × 30" D × 70" H fits a 36-inch-wide space only if you also allow clearance for doors, handles, ventilation, and installation tolerances.
