What are the three types of floor plans?

The standard breakdown is by dimensionality and detail: 2D floor plans, 3D floor plans, and live/interactive plans. A 2D plan is the traditional top-down drawing with walls, doors, and dimensions, and it remains the working format for measurement, permits, and construction. A 3D plan renders the same layout with depth, wall height, and furniture, better for visualization and marketing but not for measuring. Live or interactive plans (virtual tours, walkthrough models) let viewers navigate the space digitally.

An alternative three-way split you'll also encounter is by layout philosophy: open plans (combined living spaces), closed or traditional plans (compartmentalized rooms), and hybrid plans mixing both. Both taxonomies are legitimate; context tells you which is meant.
